ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the teacher’s strategy in utilizing Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to improve the quality of Islamic Religious Education learning at SMP Muhammadiyah 48 Medan. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The informants in this study consisted of the principal, Islamic Religious Education teachers, ICT teachers, and students who were directly involved in the learning process. The results of the study showed that the teacher’s strategy in utilizing ICT was carried out through the use of digital learning media such as PowerPoint, learning videos, internet, and projectors in the teaching and learning process. The use of ICT had a positive impact on learning, such as increasing students’ interest in learning, motivation, activeness, and understanding of Islamic Religious Education materials. In addition, the use of technology-based media made the learning process more interesting, interactive, and less monotonous. The success of ICT utilization in learning was supported by several factors, such as the availability of technological facilities, support from the school, the use of digital media, and teachers’ readiness in utilizing technology. However, there were still several inhibiting factors, such as unstable internet networks, limited learning devices, teachers’ technological competence, and limited time in preparing digital learning media.
