This study aims to provide an understanding on how to identify the key factors underlying drug abuse, highlighting those that should not be overlooked based on the application of an algorithm. The analysis is performed in the framework of pretopological spaces using an attribute reduction approach. For the application of the algorithm, information was collected through a survey of 14 questions and a reduction algorithm based on the similarity matrix method was applied. By comparing the resulting reduced pretopologies with the original pretopology, it is possible to identify which attributes are essential and which can be considered redundant.
