<![CDATA[Montong Gamang Village in Kopang District, Central Lombok Regency, continues to uphold the Pegat Kepeng custom as a significant element of the Sasak marriage tradition. Within Sasak society, Pegat Kepeng is regarded not only as a ceremonial practice but also as a customary ritual marking a woman's transition from her family of origin to her husband's family. This tradition signifies the transfer of economic, social, and customary responsibilities following marriage and reinforces kinship structures and social order within the community. The practice embodies values such as respect, responsibility, deliberation, family solidarity, and collective agreement between both families. Despite the influence of modernization on various aspects of Sasak social life, the persistence of Pegat Kepeng indicates that local cultural values remain significant and are actively preserved by the community. Preserving the social values inherent in the Pegat Kepeng tradition is therefore crucial for reinforcing Sasak cultural identity, maintaining social harmony, and ensuring the continuity of local wisdom amid ongoing social and cultural transformation.]]>
