<![CDATA[Diarrhea is a common health issue among children under five years of age and can lead to dehydration if not managed appropriately. Managing diarrhea in children requires a rational approach that considers the patient's condition, fluid requirements, zinc supplementation, selective antibiotic use, nutritional support, and parental education. This study aimed to describe the use of medications for diarrhea in hospitalized children under five at General Hospital X. A non-experimental, descriptive study design with retrospective data collection was employed. Data were obtained from the medical records of hospitalized children with diarrhea and analyzed descriptively based on patient characteristics, drug classes, specific drugs, dosage forms, and routes of administration. The study of 53 patients revealed that males constituted the largest group (34 patients; 64.2%), while the <1-year age group was the largest (27 patients; 50.9%). Regarding body weight, the 7–12 kg group was the largest (32 patients; 60.37%). The most frequently used drug class was replacement fluids (73 items; 35.09%), with KaEN 3B being the most common type of fluid (39 items; 18.7%). Powder was the most common dosage form (62 items; 29.8%), and the oral route was the most frequent method of administration (116 items; 55.77%). These results indicate that diarrhea therapy for children under five at General Hospital X focuses primarily on meeting fluid requirements and providing supportive therapy tailored to the patient's condition]]>
