Abstract

Nutrient deficiencies in Brazilian spinach plants and high levels of household fruit peel waste in Kampung Pintar Oase Tembok Gede Surabaya have the potential to be utilized as raw materials for POC. This study aims to describe the acceleration of the POC production process by stale rice MOL, the nutrient quality of POC, the effect of different POC concentrations on the growth of Brazilian spinach, the optimal POC dosage, and its implementation on SDGs 2 and SDGs 12 indicators. The research methodology consisted of two stages: (1) the production of stale rice MOL through the fermentation observation method, and (2) the implementation of experiments with control treatments (0%) and POC treatments at concentrations of 25% and 50%. The parameters measured included plant height, leaf width, wet weight, and POC nutrient content (N, P, K, organic C, and Fe). The content test was conducted at BSPJI Surabaya. Data analysis used a quantitative descriptive method by comparing it to the standard quality of liquid organic fertilizer according to Minister of Agriculture Regulation No. 70 of 2011. The results of the study show that MOL stale rice is capable of accelerating the fermentation of fruit peel waste POC and producing fertilizer with nutrient quality that meets standard quality standards. The application of POC to Brazilian spinach increases plant height, leaf width, and wet weight compared to the control, with an optimal dose at a concentration of 50%. The implementation of this research has been proven to support local food security through increased Brazilian spinach productivity and encourage responsible household waste management, thereby contributing significantly to the achievement of SDGs 2 and 12.
