<![CDATA[This study aims to analyze the role of cooperatives in boosting the local economy in Bondowoso Regency and to identify the factors that support or hinder this role. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach, utilizing literature review methods and secondary data analysis. Primary data sources include the Bondowoso Regency Statistics Agency (BPS), the Bondowoso Regency Government, the Bondowoso Regency "Satu Data" (One Data) portal, and relevant scientific journal articles. The findings indicate a generally positive trend in cooperative development in Bondowoso, evidenced by an increase in the number of cooperatives and their members. During the 2020–2025 period, the number of cooperative units in Bondowoso Regency rose from 952 to 1,194—an increase of 242 units, representing a growth rate of 25.42%. Quantitatively, this growth reflects an expansion of cooperative institutions in the region. However, the increase in the number of cooperatives does not fully mirror a rise in community participation. During the same period, the total membership actually declined from 96,052 in 2020 to 95,876 in 2025—a decrease of 176 individuals, or a change of 0.18%. Institutional strengthening and digitalization are essential to optimize the contribution of cooperatives to the local economy.]]>
