Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of variations in the Air Fuel Ratio (AFR) and Ignition Angle on the Standard ECU and Aftermarket ECU on the Power and Torque of the Honda Vario 125 LED Motorcycle. An experimental method was employed using a factorial design involving three factors: ECU type (standard and aftermarket), AFR variations (12.5, 13.5, and 14.7), and ignition timing variations (standard, +2°, and +4°). Testing was conducted using a chassis dynamometer to obtain engine power and torque data for each treatment combination. The experimental data were processed descriptively using Microsoft Excel through the calculation of mean values, comparison of results, and percentage changes in performance for each treatment variation. The results showed that the aftermarket ECU produced higher engine performance than the standard ECU, with average increases of 3.09% in power and 2.65% in torque. The maximum power of 13.70 HP was obtained from the combination of the aftermarket ECU, AFR 12.5, and +4° ignition timing, while the highest average torque of 11.90 Nm was obtained from the aftermarket ECU with an AFR of 13.5. These results indicate that variations in AFR and ignition timing affect engine performance characteristics; therefore, the use of an aftermarket ECU should be accompanied by appropriate AFR and ignition timing adjustments to achieve optimal engine performance.
