Tuberculosis (TB) remains a public health problem. Successful treatment of drug-susceptible TB is influenced by patients' knowledge and attitudes in addition to appropriate therapy. Verbal education and printed materials may not adequately address differences in language, beliefs, cultural values, family support, and social perceptions. This study aims to develop an animated video education model using Madeleine Leininger's Transcultural Nursing approach to improve knowledge and attitudes among patients with drug-susceptible TB. The model uses a Research and Development approach with the ADDIE framework: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Cultural assessment is guided by the Sunrise Model, while the intervention applies three culture-care strategies: preservation/maintenance, accommodation/negotiation, and repatterning/restructuring. Video content covers TB transmission, treatment, medication adherence, prevention, nutrition, adverse drug effects, family support, myths, and stigma. The resulting model is called VITA-TB (Video Transcultural Animation for Tuberculosis). Its effectiveness is planned to be evaluated using a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control group design.
