Abstract

Background: The issue of incorrect and premature introduction of complementary foods (MP-ASI) in our community is a classic and complex problem. Although breast milk is known to offer numerous advantages—regarding nutritional content, immunity, economics, practicality, and psychological benefits—awareness among mothers in Indonesia regarding breastfeeding remains low. The exclusive breastfeeding coverage rate in Morosunggingan Village was 78%. A breastfeeding mother's parity is associated with her breastfeeding experience. Research Objective: To determine whether there is a relationship between parity and the provision of complementary foods to infants under 6 months of age in Morosunggingan Village. Research Method: An analytical research method was used to determine the relationship between two variables: parity and the early introduction of complementary foods. The study population consisted of 42 mothers with infants under 6 months of age in Morosunggingan Village. The sampling method employed was total sampling. This study employed interviews and questionnaires, utilizing the Chi-Square test for analysis. Results: The study found that 22 respondents (52%) practiced early introduction of complementary foods; among these 22 respondents, 17 (40%) were categorized based on parity. Conclusion: The Chi-Square test yielded a p-value of 0.001 (p < α = 0.05), indicating a significant relationship between parity and the introduction of complementary foods to infants under six months of age in Morosunggingan Village. Recommendation: It is recommended that health institutions provide integrated education regarding the introduction of complementary foods using leaflets and brochures, conducted during village activities such as *Posyandu* (integrated health posts), *arisan* (social gatherings), PKK (Family Welfare Empowerment programs), and other community events.
