The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) emphasize quality education and social partnerships as essential components of sustainable development. In this context, volunteer-based social movements represent a form of community participation that contributes to achieving the SDGs, particularly through non-formal educational activities. This study aims to examine the communication experiences of Kelas Inspirasi Pontianak volunteers in interpreting their involvement as part of a social movement in the field of education. Employing a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, the research explores the subjective meanings constructed by volunteers through their communicative experiences during the program. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving six volunteers selected through purposive sampling. The findings reveal that volunteers perceive their involvement not only as a contribution to sustainable education but also as a space for self-reflection, social value formation, and the strengthening of collective awareness. The study also identifies a dynamic relationship between volunteers’ personal interests and the collective goals of the social movement. These findings highlight the importance of sustainable communication strategies in strengthening volunteer engagement and supporting the achievement of SDGs in the education sector.
