<![CDATA[Cancer is a disease characterized by uncontrolled abnormal cell growth that can spread to various organs of the body. Cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy often experience various physical and psychological side effects, one of which is anxiety that may affect treatment success and patients’ quality of life. Therefore, non-pharmacological nursing interventions are needed to help reduce anxiety during the treatment process. This study aimed to determine the effect of exposure therapy on reducing anxiety in cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy and to compare its effectiveness with autogenic therapy at Dr. M. Yunus Regional Hospital, Bengkulu.This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design involving a pre-test and post-test with a control group. The sample consisted of 32 respondents selected using purposive sampling and divided into two groups: 16 respondents in the intervention group who received exposure therapy and 16 respondents in the control group who received autogenic therapy. Anxiety levels were measured using the Visual Analogue Scale for Anxiety (VAS-A) before and after the intervention. The therapy was administered for 30 minutes, three times per week for two weeks.The results showed that the mean anxiety score in the exposure therapy group decreased from 7.31 to 4.81, while the autogenic therapy group decreased from 7.50 to 4.38. Statistical analysis indicated a significant difference in anxiety scores before and after the intervention in both groups (p = 0.000). However, no significant difference was found between the two therapies (p = 0.058). Exposure therapy and autogenic therapy were both effective in reducing anxiety among cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy and may be used as alternative non-pharmacological nursing interventions.
