Abstract

The objective of this research is to provide an analysis of the policies and future of the development of  Indonesian maritime power and defense during the era of President Prabowo Subianto. The research use a qualitative method with data obtained from literature studies of various official government documents, previous research and electronic media articles. This study emphasize on three important points: first, the projection of the development of Indonesian naval power carried out through the acquisition of defense equipment from various countries; second, the development of naval power also has significance for strengthening Indonesian diplomacy and foreign policy; and finally, the challenges that must be faced by the government of President Prabowo Subianto in efforts to develop maritime power. This study uncovers the development of Indonesian maritime power wich directed to the efforts by strengthen the Indonesian Navy as a green-water navy as a basis for supporting diplomacy and the free and active foreign policy adopted by Indonesia. In addition, this study also identified that in developing its maritime power, the Indonesian government under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto will face various challenges from both political, economic and also technical aspect.  Keywords— Diplomacy, Indonesian Navy, Indonesia, Maritime Power
