Abstract

PT Sulaiman Saleh, a company engaged in the oil palm plantation sector, still assigns employees across eight functional departments based on managerial policy without quantitatively considering the differences in task completion time among employees, potentially causing work-time inefficiency. This study aims to identify the task completion time of each employee in each department and to determine the optimal employee assignment using the Hungarian Method. The study employs a quantitative approach with a case study design, in which primary data on task completion time were obtained through interviews and assessments by the Human Resources Department, then analyzed through row reduction, column reduction, and covering-line steps on an 8×8 assignment matrix, and verified using POM-QM for Windows software. The results show that the optimal assignment produces a total completion time of 2,040 minutes, 720 minutes or 26.09% more efficient than the departmental-order assignment pattern, which requires 2,760 minutes. These findings can serve as a reference for PT Sulaiman Saleh in making cross-departmental employee assignment decisions to improve overall work efficiency and productivity.
