This study aimed to describe the ability to determine titles, use diction, and employ figurative language in writing poetry using the technique of calling on experience. This study was a quantitative descriptive study. The research population included all 432 X Grande students of the SMA Negeri 2 Gowa. The sample was determined using simple random sampling with a sample size of 88 students. The data collection technique used in this study was a written test. The results of this study indicate that the ability to write poetry of class X students at SMA Negeri 2 Gowa is in the sufficient category, with an average score of 7
