This study aims to analyze the application of conflict resolution to the Tanjung Balai conflict that occurred in 2016. This study uses the conflict circle and satisfaction triangle analysis model by Gary T. Furlong. The Tanjung Balai conflict is a complex conflict, so the conflict circle model is used to analyze the various causes of conflict that go beyond the “visible” problem and the satisfaction triangle model that focuses on analyzing the specific interests of each party to the conflict. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature study method that begins with looking for Furlong’s theory which focuses on the conflict circle model and satisfaction triangle obtained from the literature review. The results of this study are expected to contribute knowledge that informs that conflict resolution must be in accordance with “what” that causes the emergence of a conflict, so that the escalation of conflict can be avoided.
