Mental health during the elementary school years supports learning, social relationships, and children's responses to everyday emotional experiences. This community service program aimed to strengthen mental health literacy and emotion regulation skills through interactive nature-based education. The program will be implemented from January to June 2026 through a partnership between Poltekkes Kemenkes Palembang and Sekolah Alam Indonesia Palembang and involved six fifth-grade students. The content included emotion recognition, bodily signals, calm breathing, five-senses grounding, positive self-talk, safe responses, cooperation, and help-seeking. Evaluation used a ten-item pretest and posttest, a skills observation checklist, participation records, and a satisfaction questionnaire. The mean knowledge score increased from 66.7 to 90.0, representing a 23.3-point improvement. Five of the six students demonstrated at least two emotion regulation strategies, and all students identified one trusted adult. Attendance, active participation, and ratings of good or very good satisfaction each reached 100%, with no safety incidents. Interactive nature-based education provided a child-friendly introductory approach to mental health literacy and simple emotion regulation strategies. Continued practice with teachers and families is required to support skill retention.
