Abstract

Staphylococcus aureus is a pathogenic bacterium that can cause various serious infections. The increasing prevalence of antibiotic resistance has encouraged the search for alternative antibacterial agents derived from natural resources. One promising source is Moringa oleifera, particularly its flowers, which contain various bioactive compounds. This study aimed to evaluate the antibacterial activity of Moringa oleifera flower extract against Staphylococcus aureus. This true experimental study employed a post-test-only control group design using the disc diffusion method. The extract was tested at concentrations of 25%, 50%, and 75%. Inhibition zones were observed at all extract concentrations, with mean diameters of 13.85 mm, 24.56 mm, and 28.67 mm at concentrations of 25%, 50%, and 75%, respectively. The positive control, ampicillin, produced an inhibition zone with a mean diameter of 9.46 mm, whereas the negative control (sterile water) showed no inhibition zone. Moringa oleifera flower extract demonstrated antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus. The 75% concentration exhibited the strongest inhibitory effect, indicating its potential as a natural antibacterial agent.
