Family food security in urban areas faces significant challenges due to limited productive land and increasing dependence on food supplies from outside the region. The AKU HATINYA PKK Program serves as a community empowerment strategy through the utilization of household yards based on urban farming practices. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the AKU HATINYA PKK Program based on urban farming in Limapuluh District, Pekanbaru City, identify its impacts on family food security, community welfare, and environmental sustainability, and describe an empowerment model that can be replicated in other urban areas. The method employed consisted of planning, preparation, implementation, evaluation, and monitoring stages involving the AKU HATINYA PKK KARISMA Group in Rintis Village during April–June 2026. The results indicate that the program successfully optimized household yards through the cultivation of 49 commodity types, including food crops, family medicinal plants (TOGA), fruit crops, native chicken farming, and catfish cultivation. The implementation of urban farming using an integrated farming system contributed to improved family food security, increased household income, enhanced environmental quality, and strengthened community participation as well as the capacity of PKK cadres. Evaluation results revealed that the program was effectively implemented and achieved positive outcomes in administration, innovation, yard utilization, and environmental management. Therefore, the urban farming-based empowerment model through the AKU HATINYA PKK Program can serve as an alternative strategy for sustainable urban community development.
