Abstract

This study analyzes recruitment strategies targeting Generation Z within the Democratic Party at the regional level, specifically in Karawang Regency. It aims to identify key success factors and obstacles in the recruitment process. This research is based on the growing importance of Generation Z in contemporary political dynamics, despite their relatively low interest in formal politics. The study employs a qualitative case study approach, using data collection techniques such as in-depth interviews, observation, and document analysis. The analysis is guided by Pippa Norris’ political recruitment theory, which divides the process into certification, nomination, and election stages. The findings reveal that recruitment strategies tend to be open and inclusive at the certification stage, merit-based at the nomination stage, and digitally oriented at the election stage. However, several challenges persist, including limited optimization of social media at the local level, weak political branding, and negative perceptions of politics among youth. This study highlights the need for adaptive recruitment strategies that integrate digital, cultural, and ideological approaches to effectively engage Generation Z.
