Abstract

Global warming has been increasing in recent decades and has become an issue in global climate studies. Global temperature anomalies are the main indicator used to monitor temperature changes over time. This study was conducted to analyze global temperature rise trends on NASA GISS Temperature data and to determine when the 1,5°C rise threshold will be reached, in accordance with international climate mitigation targets. The research method used was third order polynomial regression modeling to generate temperature anomaly increase trends and the application of two numerical methods, namely the Newton-Raphson and Bisection methods, to find the root of the model function. The modelling results showed that the cubic regression method had the best results with a value of , AICC -614,8, and low RMSE. The Newton-Raphson method achieved convergence in 4 iterations, while Bisection required 17 iterations, but both methods produced consistent root values, indicating that the 1,5°C limit is expected to be reached in 2039. This research can provide a numerical calculation of global warming and can be used as a basic for climate mitigation policy making. Keywords: Bisection, Newton-Raphson, NASA, Temperature Trends.
