Indonesian local ducks are a strategic source of meat and eggs for smallholder food security, yet their nutrient requirements have never been consolidated in a structured, reproducible way, and feeding recommendations are still largely extrapolated from commercial Pekin standards. This review synthesizes the evidence on the nutrition of Indonesian local ducks across four domains: dietary protein and energy, amino acids, alternative and local feed ingredients, and feed additives. This systematic review used a narrative (qualitative) synthesis following the PRISMA framework; we did not perform a meta-analysis because reported designs, breeds, and outcome metrics were too heterogeneous to pool. We searched three databases (Consensus, Scopus, and Google Scholar) for peer-reviewed studies published from January 2018 to 15 August 2026, using a database-adapted Boolean string. Two reviewers screened records, performed full-text assessments, and extracted data independently; a third reviewer resolved disagreements, and the team appraised study quality using a risk-of-bias checklist adapted from SYRCLE. Of 582 records identified, 30 studies met the eligibility criteria and were synthesized. Metabolizable energy requirements clustered around 2,700–2,800 kcal/kg for local grower ducks, with crude protein of about 17–19% in the early grower phase declining toward maintenance-oriented levels later; the first-limiting amino acid, methionine, and its interaction with dietary energy emerged as the least-studied domain in local genotypes. Fermented local ingredients and probiotic, phytobiotic, and acidifier additives consistently improved performance and gut function. This synthesis highlights a persistent scarcity of breed-specific requirement data for local ducks and provides evidence-based feeding recommendations, along with a prioritized research agenda.
