Abstract

The following article is an ethnographic study of the Moor tribe in Nabire. This paper describes the Moors and their distribution, worldview, kinship system and life cycle. The Moors classify their sub-tribes into six groups, five of which live on the Moor Island to the Aburu Valley and on the Nabire coast. The Wanggei are classified as a tribe that lives in another world and realm. It is not a tribe and people that exist in reality, but it exists in their worldview only. The kinship relationship between fellow humans and their natural environment is very important and it is represented in their life cycle rites. The purpose of this research is to describe their cultural ethnography in-depth and comprehensively. Therefore, the Rapid Ethnographic Assessment method was used in this study. With research techniques, in-depth interviews, observations, focus group discussions, and genealogical methods to find kinship genealogies.
