Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to understand the process of self-identity construction among Blackpink fans, known as Blink, through their experience of attending the 'Deadline' concert. Utilizing a qualitative methodology with a phenomenological approach, the research explores the subjective experiences of fans focusing on the synthesized findings regarding their motives, language style, dressing style, and concert experiences. The findings reveal that fan motives consist of historical roots (because-of motive) and future-oriented goals (in-order-to motive). Language style adaptation shows two patterns: situational usage within the community and universal usage in daily communication. Furthermore, the dressing style reflects a hybrid identity combining collective fandom symbols with personal preferences. Ultimately, the live concert experience serves as an emotional catalyst that reinforces and redefines their self-concept. The study concludes that the self-identity of a Blink is a continuous, dynamic process deeply intertwined with their social environment and cultural adaptation.
