Electrical cables are one of the main components in electrical power distribution systems, functioning as a medium for conducting electric current. In their application, cables often experience bending conditions due to improper installation that does not comply with standards, which can affect their thermal and mechanical characteristics. This study aims to analyze the effect of cable temperature and electric current magnitude on the bending characteristics of NYM 2×1.5 mm² and NYMHY 2×2.5 mm² electrical cables. The research method used was an experimental method with current variations of 0.9 A, 1.1 A, 1.4 A, and 5 A, as well as bending angle variations of 0°, 15°, 60°, and 90°. Measurements were carried out using a digital thermometer and clamp meter over a certain time interval. The results showed that an increase in electric current caused a significant rise in cable temperature. Bending at smaller angles produced higher heat concentration compared to bending at larger angles. The highest temperature was obtained at a current of 5 A with a bending angle of 0°, reaching 25.6°C. This temperature increase affected the flexibility and insulation durability of the cable. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the combination of high current and small bending angles accelerates cable quality degradation and increases the risk of insulation damage.
