Abstract

Sustainable leadership practices among publicly owned regional enterprises in Jakarta have increasingly taken center stage in recent human resource management strategies. As the nation's bustling capital, incorporating environmental ideals into everyday employee conduct at government-owned business units remains a crucial strategic challenge requiring nuanced solutions. This research aims to analyze the impact of demonstrations of sustainable leadership, tendencies toward pro-environmental behavior, and inspiration drawn from green workplace roles on staff performance—with organizational citizenship as a mediating factor. Data were collected through an online survey of 400 employees at such business units in Jakarta, relying primarily on a Likert scale to gauge responses. Information analysis was conducted using structural equation modeling via the SmartPLS software. Findings indicate that displays of sustainable leadership, tendencies toward pro-environmental behavior, and inspiration from green workplace roles significantly and positively shape worker output, directly as well as indirectly through mediation by organizational citizenship. Sustainable leadership has proven pivotal in encouraging eco-friendly conduct while also enhancing voluntary contributions to their company's sustainability initiatives. What's more, results reveal that office-based personnel tend to exhibit elevated levels of motivation stemming from green roles relative to field-based staff. This study contributes to scholarly understanding of sustainable leadership within the public sector, particularly at organizations with environmental responsibilities in delivering public services. Findings carry practical implications for leaders aiming to strengthen sustainable leadership programs and green training to successfully boost performance anchored in sustainability ideals.
