Abstract

This study is motivated by the persistently high poverty rate in Pekanbaru City, despite continuous regional economic growth. This situation highlights the need to evaluate the role of zakat institutions in supporting poverty alleviation efforts. The study aims to analyze the contribution of lembaga Amil Zakat Muhammadiyah (LAZISMU) to poverty reduction through empowerment programs and the distribution of both productive and consumptive zakat. A qualitative method employing a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach was used, involving the identification, screening, eligibility assessment, and inclusion of 15 relevant articles. The findings indicate that LAZISMU makes a significant contribution through business mentoring, skills enhancement for mustahik (zakat beneficiaries), the digitalization of zakat management, and professional governance. Productive *zakat* programs have been proven to increase the income, self-reliance, and social resilience of mustahik. Overall, the study concludes that LAZISMU plays a vital role in poverty reduction in Pekanbaru through a structured and sustainable empowerment model.
