<![CDATA[This community service activity was carried out due to environmental and health problems in the Padukuhan Nogosari area, Dadapayu Village, Kapanewon Semanu, Gunungkidul Regency. The problem is in the form of piles of hay after harvest which can be a breeding ground for mosquitoes that cause dengue fever, especially when the rainy season arrives where humid conditions accelerate the growth of mosquito larvae. On the other hand, burning straw indiscriminately can cause land or residential fires, especially when carried out unsupervised and without paying attention to weather conditions and safe distances from buildings and dry vegetation. Therefore, this activity aims to provide education to the public about how to burn straw that is safe, controlled, and can reduce the risk of mosquito spread and help prevent fires, so that the community can maintain environmental cleanliness while avoiding disaster hazards. The method of activities includes counseling with the guidance of the Gunungkidul Fire Fighting Team (Damkar), as well as rapid fire reporting simulations so that the public is familiar with emergency response procedures and knows where to report when an emergency condition occurs. In addition, the community is also taught about the importance of early detection and rapid response to fire hazards around the house, such as recognizing the early signs of a fire and using simple extinguishers available in their respective neighborhoods. The involvement of the Gunungkidul Fire Department in this activity strengthens community cooperation in building preparedness for various potential disasters, ranging from mosquito-borne diseases to environmental fires, so that synergy is created between residents and related agencies in maintaining environmental safety and health. Overall, these service activities have a positive impact by increasing collective awareness, skills in reducing risks, and strengthening the emergency reporting system at the community level as part of efforts to build a disaster-resilient society.]]>
