Abstract

Corpus alienum is an object or substance contained in an organ or tissue that is not normal. Corpus alienum eyes occur in welding workers who do not use eye protection devices. Health education by demonstration method is a method of learning to increase knowledge. The purpose of this research is to know the effect of health education by the method of demonstration to the level of knowledge of preventing the incidence of corpus alienum disease in welding workers. The study used preexperimental design with one pre-test post-test group. The sampling technique used total sampling of 16 respondents. Statistical analysis using Wilcoxon test. The result of analysis shows significant value (p-value = 0.005). Health education by demonstration method can improve the knowledge of welding workers so as to reduce the risk of the eye alienum corpus. There is a relationship between health education demonstration method and level of knowledge of prevention of corpus alienum eye disease at welding workers in “Putra Jaya” Sumbersari in Jember District. Nurses should undertake a health education demonstration method to prevent the alienum corpus eye on welding workers in order to reduce the risk of the eye alien corpus.
