In today’s digital era, the internet serves as a global medium connecting multicultural users, particularly in the tourism industry, where the rapid growth of internet users in Indonesia has made website localization essential for accessibility and user engagement. As a key aspect of localization, website translation requires not only linguistic accuracy but also cultural and functional adaptation. This study compares the translation strategies and quality of user interface (UI) menus on two leading Indonesian travel websites, Traveloka and Tiket.com, in their Indonesian–English versions. It applies Pierini’s (2007) framework to identify translation strategies and uses the Localization Industry Standards Association (LISA) QA Model (2011) to assess translation quality. Data were collected from the English versions of both websites up to December 2019, focusing on flights, hotels, and trains. The findings show that both platforms predominantly employ the Full Translation strategy to maintain linguistic equivalence and design consistency; however, minor issues, such as cosmetic errors and numerical mismatches, occasionally affect functional precision. Comparative analysis indicates that Traveloka achieves higher overall translation quality and consistency than Tiket.com, supporting its stronger Top Brand Index performance from 2015 to 2019. These findings emphasize the role of accurate and consistent localization in improving user experience and enabling effective cross-cultural communication in digital tourism platforms.
