Abstract

The production of core-shell nanomaterials is important in medical applications. This study demonstrates the synthesis of TiO2 as core and PEG-400 as shell nanoparticles, they were synthesized using the Stöber method in two steps to control their size and the possibility of changing their characteristics. The prepared solution was deposited on a glass substrate to obtain its TiO₂@PEG core shell nanoparticles thin film. XRD result confirm that TiO₂ used had anatase phase with dominate peaks at (101), and TiO₂@PEG core shell nanoparticles thin film had a broad diffraction peak at 15–25°. The presence of this broad peak is indicative of the successful incorporation of PEG-400 as a coating layer surrounding the core TiO₂. The absorption spectra in the ultraviolet and visible light regions for TiO2 solution that had a broadening of the absorption spectrum in 290-350 nm that related to spherical monodisperse. TiO2@PEG core shell nanoparticles thin film had a broadening of the absorption spectrum at 300-450 nm with an average particle size of 50 nm and spherical shapes. TiO2@PEG-400 CSNPs had high suspension stability. TiO2@PEG core shell nanoparticles thin film was tested in MDA-MB-231 cell lines and HBL-100 cell lines using MTT assay. The results indicated that the cell lines exposure to TiO2@PEG-400 core shell nanoparticles reduced cancer cell viability and the cell inhibition rate increased with the applied near-Infrared Laser (NIR laser).
