This study aims to analyze the concept of tarāḍin in Qur’an 4:29 through thematic interpretation and to formulate its implications for Islamic contracts. This study employs library research with a qualitative approach using the tafsīr mawḍū‘ī method. Primary sources consist of the Qur’an and classical and contemporary exegetical works, while secondary sources include Islamic economic law literature and relevant academic studies. Data were analyzed through thematic and content analysis, supported by source triangulation. The findings indicate that tarāḍin means more than formal mutual consent; it constitutes a substantive principle encompassing freedom of will, adequate information, clarity of contractual objects and performance, mutual agreement, and freedom from deception and exploitation. This principle strengthens justice and protection for parties in Islamic contracts.
