Breast Milk (BM) is an ideal food for infants that contains a number of nutrients proven to be beneficial for the growth, development, and health of babies. The composition of breast milk varies depending on the time of breast milk expression, the age of the baby, and the mother's nutrition. One effort carried out to facilitate breast milk expression is breast care. Breast care is an action of caring for the breasts either by the postpartum mother herself or assisted by others, carried out from the first or second day after giving birth by keeping the breasts clean and well-maintained. This breast care is beneficial in influencing the pituitary gland to release the hormones prolactin and oxytocin; prolactin affects the amount of breast milk production, and oxytocin affects milk ejection. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of breast care on the smoothness of breast milk production. This study uses a Quasi-Experimental method. Quasi-Experiment (Pseudo Experiment) with a Pre and Post Test With Non-Control Design. In this study, a paired sample t-test hypothesis test was used to determine the effectiveness of breast care on the smoothness of postpartum mothers' breast milk. Data were collected using questionnaires and observations, and analyzed using the Wilcoxon test and Mann-Whitney test. Results: The Wilcoxon test showed that the percentage of postpartum mothers with smooth breastfeeding increased from 20% to 86.7%. The calculated Z value = -3.420 with p = 0.001 < 0.05. Meanwhile, the control group showed an increase in breastfeeding smoothness from 13.3% to 40%. The calculated Z value = -3.475, with p = 0.001, also indicating a significant difference. Based on the Mann-Whitney test results, the mean rank of the intervention group was 21.43, higher than that of the control group at 9.57. The p value = 0.000 < 0.05 and the calculated Z = -3.761 indicate that there is a statistically significant difference between the two groups.. The conclusion of this study is that there is the effectiveness of breast care on the smooth production of breast milk. With this research, it is expected that health workers are able to provide breast care to every postpartum mother at Sagerat Health Center.
