Plants in Indonesia are very diverse and many of them are plants that can be used by the community as medicinal plants. One of them is the Javanese wood plant. Java wood is known to contain secondary metabolites such as alcohol, steroids, triterpenoids, phenolics, flavonoids, tannins, and saponins. This compound is a group of bioactive compounds that produce antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anticancer and immunomodulatory activities. In this study, phytochemical testing of the compound content of the ethanolic extract of Javanese wood leaves was carried out and then looked at its effect on the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The method used is to test the phytochemical content of alkaloid compounds, tannins, flavonoids and saponins. Observation of the effect of ethanolic extract of Javanese wood leaves on the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria was carried out by testing the antibacterial activity of 96% ethanol extract of Javanese leaves with concentrations of 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 40%, 60%, and 80 respectively. %. The results showed that 96% ethanol extract of Javanese wood leaves contained alkaloids with Dragendorff reagents, tannins, flavonoids, and saponins. In testing the antibacterial activity of the 96% ethanol extract of Javanese wood leaves at the specified concentration, there was an inhibition zone formed, namely at a concentration of 5% at 9.4 mm, 10% at 11.6 mm, 15% at 14.4 mm, 20 % is 11.5 mm, 40% is 15.6 mm, 60% is 18.7 mm, and 80% is 18.8 mm.
