<![CDATA[Introduction: Social conflicts within communities, such as disputes over land, family matters, or neighborhood issues, are often resolved through informal mechanisms. However, these methods can be biased and lack legal enforcement. Legal intervention, particularly through community mediation and conflict resolution services, can offer fair and impartial solutions.Purpose: This paper examines the role of law in community mediation and conflict resolution, focusing on the effectiveness of legal frameworks for resolving local conflicts in Indonesia. It evaluates the integration of legal professionals in mediation processes and the impact of these interventions on community cohesion.Method: The research uses a qualitative methodology, including interviews with community leaders, legal mediators, and individuals involved in conflict resolution processes. Case studies from urban and rural areas are analyzed to understand how legal mediation affects the outcomes of conflicts.Findings and Results: The study finds that legal intervention in community-based mediation significantly enhances the fairness and legitimacy of resolutions. It helps prevent violence, fosters trust in local authorities, and encourages peaceful dialogue. However, the lack of legal literacy among participants can sometimes undermine the process.Urgency: As Indonesia's urban and rural populations continue to grow, conflicts are increasingly common. Legal mediation offers a timely and effective way to address disputes before they escalate.Contribution: This paper contributes to the understanding of how the law can facilitate social harmony by providing an equitable process for conflict resolution at the community level.Recommendation: The study recommends strengthening the capacity of local legal professionals to engage in community mediation and expanding public education on conflict resolution methods.]]>
