Athletes are often exposed to intense training schedules that can lead to physical fatigue, particularly when recovery is insufficient. This study aimed to examine the effect of ice bath therapy as a non-pharmacological intervention to reduce post-exercise fatigue in adolescent karate athletes. A pre-experimental, one-group pretest-posttest design was used, involving 30 adolescent karate athletes from a public junior high school in Indonesia, selected through total sampling. Physical fatigue was assessed using the Nordic Body Map questionnaire before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using paired t-tests to determine the effect of the therapy. Prior to the intervention, most participants exhibited moderate levels of physical fatigue. Following the intervention, a substantial proportion showed decreased fatigue levels. The findings suggest that ice bath therapy can effectively reduce physical fatigue after physical exertion in adolescent athletes. This method likely supports muscle recovery through the physiological processes of vasoconstriction and vasodilation, which help regulate inflammation and promote oxygenated blood flow. As a simple and accessible non-pharmacological approach, ice bath therapy may be a practical intervention in adolescent athletic training programs to prevent excessive fatigue and support physical performance.
