Abstract

This study examines how Pesantren Al-Manar Aceh Besar operationalized Sufi ethics through Instagram during the 2025 Sumatra flood disaster response. Using netnographic methodology, we analyzed photo documentation, captions, and engagement metrics from @pesantrenalmanar and @laziswafalmanar during late November to mid-December 2025. Findings reveal systematic deployment of four Sufi ethical concepts: khidmah (selfless service) appeared in 100% of posts, while rahmah (compassion), amanah (trustworthiness), and ukhuwah (brotherhood) each appeared in 60%. These values were operationalized through visual narratives of aid distribution, formal team deployment, and collaboration with Pondok Sahabat Al-Qur'an Karim Jambi, mobilizing Rp30,345,000 in humanitarian assistance. Instagram functioned as a "digital mimbar" where moral pedagogy occurred through transparent financial reporting and spiritual framing of disaster as collective moral testing. This study proposes the concept of  "Sufi Digital Pedagogy" as a framework demonstrating how traditional Islamic boarding schools adapt spiritual traditions to contemporary crisis communication while maintaining theological authenticity. The findings offer actionable insights for faith-based institutions integrating spiritual values with professional disaster response, showing that digital platforms can amplify religious authenticity when ethical values are embedded in observable humanitarian action and public accountability.
