Vaginal discharge is a prevalent reproductive health concern among female adolescents, often influenced by inadequate knowledge and improper hygiene practices. Adolescence is a critical period for developing healthy behaviors, making it essential to understand the factors associated with this condition. This study aimed to examine the relationship between knowledge, attitudes, and personal hygiene behavior and the occurrence of vaginal discharge among female students. A quantitative cross-sectional study was conducted at Harapan Mekar Senior High School, Medan. The study population included all female students in grade XII, and total sampling was applied, resulting in 33 respondents. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed through univariate and bivariate analyses using the chi-square test with a significance level of 95% (α = 0.05). The results revealed that knowledge (p = 0.005), attitudes (p = 0.016), and personal hygiene behavior (p = 0.005) were significantly associated with the occurrence of vaginal discharge. These findings highlight the importance of improving adolescents’ awareness and promoting proper hygiene practices to prevent reproductive health problems. In conclusion, strengthening reproductive health education and encouraging positive hygiene behaviors are essential to reduce the risk of vaginal discharge among adolescent girls.
