<![CDATA[This study aims to analyze the economic instability caused by the Import Thrifting Shock on the existence and stability of the fashion MSME workforce in Indonesia. The phenomenon of thrifting has shifted from a practice of saving to a structural issue exacerbated by the rampant illegal import of used clothing. This study uses a quantitative method through a literature analysis approach to test the hypothesis of the impact of illegal imports. The results of the study show that the surge in the volume of illegal imports of used clothing, which peaked at 227.75% in 2022, created unfair competition and caused state losses with a potential value of IDR 7.1 trillion. This directly eroded the market share of local products by 432 thousand tons, threatening the survival of fashion MSMEs. In addition to the economic impact, the findings also reinforce that fast fashion, as the root of thrifting, produces hazardous textile waste that pollutes the aquatic environment. In conclusion, the import ban policy through Minister of Trade Regulation No. 40 of 2022 is a crucial step. However, its effectiveness must be supported by public education and the promotion of Sustainable Fashion throughout the supply chain to mitigate long-term economic and environmental impacts. ]]>
