This article examines how Isrāʼīliyyāt in Muqātil b. Sulaymān’s tafsīr shaped the historiography of early Sunni exegesis, raising the question of whether Muqātil should be read as an isolated source or as a transmission node linking the earliest exegetical tradition to later works. The study situates Muqātil within a network of reports that involves first- and second-generation transmitters such as Ibn ʻAbbās (d. 68/687), Mujāhid (d. 104/722), Qatādah (d. 117/735), and al-Suddī (d. 127/745), as well as the exegetical traditions of Transoxanian/Hanafi-Māturīdī, Nīshāpūrī, and Andalusian scholarship. The article argues that Muqātil was not merely a transmitter of Isrāʼīliyyāt narratives, but also a tafsīr master who selected, recontextualized, and preserved early material for later Sunni tafsīr. The findings further show that reception on Muqātil’s work was selective, layered, and expansive both historically and geographically. Early tafsīr historiography is therefore better understood as a dynamic transmission network rather than a model centered solely on al-Ṭabarī (d. 310/923).[Artikel ini meneliti bagaimana Isrāʼīliyyāt dalam tafsir Muqātil b.
