This study aimed to analyze the development and research trends related to second-hand smoke (SHS) exposure and its impact on children’s health. A quantitative approach with a bibliometric study design was employed. The study population included all scientific articles on second-hand smoke exposure among children indexed in scientific databases. A total of 228 articles were selected using purposive sampling based on inclusion criteria, including publication year, topic relevance, and document type as scientific articles. The variables analyzed included publication trends, citation counts, countries of publication, and research keywords related to SHS exposure in children. Data were collected through systematic searching and screening of articles using relevant keywords. Bibliometric analysis was conducted using VOSviewer software to visualize keyword networks and identify emerging research trends. The findings indicate a notable increase in publications related to SHS exposure in children over recent years. The dominant research themes focus on respiratory health outcomes, particularly asthma and respiratory tract infections, highlighting the significant health burden associated with SHS exposure in pediatric populations. Second-hand smoke exposure remains an important risk factor affecting children’s health. Strengthening preventive strategies through health education and the implementation of comprehensive smoke-free policies is essential to reduce children’s exposure to tobacco smoke.
