Preoperative hemodynamic instability, characterized by elevated blood pressure, pulse rate, and respiratory rate, is frequently observed in patients awaiting surgery and may affect their psychophysiological readiness. This community service program aimed to optimize preoperative hemodynamic management by implementing the Alternate Nostril Breathing (ANB) technique in the holding room of the Central Surgical Unit at Buru Regency Regional General Hospital. Activities included health education, demonstrations, bedside teaching, and installation of educational posters with QR codes linked to an ANB instructional video. Seven of the 11 targeted operating room nurses attended the training and successfully demonstrated the technique. Five preoperative patients were screened, and three with hemodynamic instability received ANB for 10–15 minutes. After the intervention, all patients showed reductions in blood pressure, pulse rate, and respiratory rate. Mean systolic blood pressure decreased from 151.3 to 136.7 mmHg, diastolic pressure from 92.7 to 84.0 mmHg, pulse rate from 102 to 86.3 beats/minute, and respiratory rate from 23.3 to 16.0 breaths/minute. Patients also reported feeling calmer and better prepared for surgery. The program produced educational posters and digital learning resources.
