Chronic kidney disease requires patients undergoing hemodialysis to adhere to fluid and dietary self-management in order to maintain their health condition. Patient activation is considered an important factor in improving patients’ ability to independently manage their health. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between patient activation and fluid diet self-management among patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis at Husada Hospital, Jakarta. A correlational analytic method with a cross-sectional design was used, involving 124 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using the Patient Activation Measure-13 (PAM-13) and the Fluid Control in Hemodialysis Patients Scale (FCHPS). The data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank Correlation test. The results showed that 93.5% of respondents had good patient activation, while 75.8% demonstrated good fluid diet self-management. Statistical analysis revealed a significant positive relationship between patient activation and fluid diet self-management (p < 0.001; r = 0.326). These findings indicate that higher patient activation is associated with better fluid diet self-management among chronic kidney disease patients undergoing hemodialysis.
