The Merdeka Curriculum is an educational innovation in Indonesia designed to provide greater freedom for schools and teachers in managing learning processes. This curriculum aims to produce graduates better prepared for global challenges by emphasizing flexibility, creativity, and relevance to local needs. This article discusses the legal foundation of the Merdeka Curriculum, which is based on the National Education System Law No. 20 of 2003, as well as other related educational policies. The implementation of this curriculum grants schools the autonomy to design contextual learning experiences, while teachers are required to create innovative teaching methods. However, the curriculum's application faces several challenges, including insufficient teacher training, disparities in educational facilities, and regional diversity. Moreover, the curriculum focuses on developing students' comprehensive competencies through project-based learning, collaboration, and character education. Periodic evaluations are conducted to ensure its effectiveness. With the right approach, the Merdeka Curriculum is expected to foster a generation that is creative, independent, and ready to face global changes.
