Islamic broadcasting is widely used to disseminate religious knowledge, yet the relative contribution of message quality and communicator competence remains unclear. This study examines their effects on the religious knowledge of Islamic Communication and Broadcasting students at Universitas Islam Negeri Sumatera Utara. A quantitative survey was conducted with 26 respondents selected through accidental sampling. Data were collected using an online Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed through multiple linear regression using IBM SPSS. All questionnaire items met the validity and reliability requirements. The results show that communicator competence has a positive and significant effect on students’ religious knowledge (t = 5.387, p < .001), whereas broadcast-message quality has no significant partial effect (t = 0.217, p = .830). Thus, improving communicators’ credibility, subject-matter mastery, and delivery skills is more crucial than relying solely on message packaging to strengthen students’ religious knowledge.
