Low levels of consumer literacy among high school students are one of the factors contributing to the prevalence of food poisoning cases and the consumption of unsafe products in school settings. In response to this issue, this community service activity aims to enhance students understanding of consumer rights and food safety through a participatory educational approach. This activity was conducted at Rasau Jaya State High School No. 1, Kubu Raya Regency, West Kalimantan. The methods used combined interactive lectures, discussions, and the use of technology. This approach was chosen because active learning is more effective than passive (one way) methods. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in the students understanding, the majority of participants were able to identify the mandatory components of food labels, verify BPOM distribution permit numbers and undestand basic consumer rights as stipulated in Law No. 8 of 1999 on Consumer Protection. In addition, students gained the confidence to ask critical questions and the awareness to reject suspicious products. This activity concluded that a participatory educational approach has proven effective in improving consumer literacy among students, however it requires sustainable follow up programs and strengthened partnerships bertween schools, university, and local goverments to ensure it long term impact.
