Breast milk is a source of important nutritional elements for newborns for growth and development and increases the body's immunity to disease. Papaya fruit (Carica papaya) contains lactagogue, a substance that can increase or facilitate milk production, and is rich in vitamin A, polyphenols, and steroids that stimulate the prolactin reflex. This study aimed to determine the effect of giving papaya fruit on the smooth production of breast milk in postpartum mothers at the Gunung Sahilan Garden Clinic, division 2 area, Gunung Sahilan District, Kampar Regency. The research used a Pre-Experimental method with a One Group Pretest Posttest design, in which one group was observed before treatment (pretest) and after treatment (posttest). The sample consisted of 12 postpartum mothers taken by total sampling, and milk volume was measured using a breast pump and an observation sheet. Data were analyzed using the Shapiro Wilk normality test and the Paired T-Test with a significance level of a = 0.05. The results showed that milk production was normally distributed (pretest P = 0.51 and posttest P = 0.58, both > 0.05), with a mean increase from 163.3 ml before to 256 ml after consuming papaya. The Paired T-Test obtained P = 0.00 < 0.05, meaning there was an effect of papaya fruit consumption on the smooth production of breast milk in postpartum mothers.
