Abstract

Introduction: RSIGMP UMI is a dental and oral health educational hospital in Makassar. The development of sharia-based health services requires an assessment of service characteristics that are aligned with sharia principles. This study focused on four service characteristics, namely rabbaniyyah, akhlaqiyyah, waqi’iyyah, and insaniyyah, as an initial institutional assessment. Research Objective: To describe the perceived readiness of sharia service characteristics at RSIGMP UMI based on the perceptions of doctors, staff, and patients. Methods: This study used a quantitative descriptive cross-sectional design. Data were collected using a questionnaire administered to 37 respondents consisting of doctors, hospital staff, and patients who met the stated participation requirements and provided informed consent. Respondents were recruited using accidental sampling. Data were analyzed descriptively using frequencies and percentages. The original manuscript did not provide sufficient information regarding the questionnaire developer/source, number of items, validity and reliability testing, scoring procedure, cut-off points, respondent composition by group, or ethics approval; these details must be completed from the research records before submission. Results: Of 37 respondents, 35 (94.6%) were categorized as ready and 2 (5.4%) as moderately ready for the rabbaniyyah dimension. All 37 respondents (100%) were categorized as ready for akhlaqiyyah. For waqi’iyyah, 34 respondents (91.9%) were categorized as ready and 3 (8.1%) as moderately ready. All 37 respondents (100%) were categorized as ready for insaniyyah. These findings indicate a generally favorable perception of the implementation of the four sharia service characteristics, with relatively greater variation in rabbaniyyah and waqi’iyyah. Conclusion: Based on respondent perceptions, the four assessed sharia service characteristics were generally categorized as ready. These findings represent an initial perception-based assessment and should not be interpreted as evidence that RSIGMP UMI has fulfilled all requirements for sharia hospital certification or completed a comprehensive institutional transformation.
