This research discusses the meaning of time in Surah Al-‘Ashr based on Ibn Kathir's interpretation and its relation to the management of human life. The purpose of this research is to study the meaning of al-‘ashr and its relationship with khusr, iman, 'amal ṣāliḥ, tawāṣaw bil-ḥaqq, and tawāṣaw biṣ-ṣabr. This research uses a qualitative method, which is a type of library research. The main sources of the research are the Quran, Surah Al-‘Ashr 1–3, and the Tafsir Al-Qur'an Al-‘Azhim by Ibn Kathir, while the supporting sources are relevant books and scientific articles. The research results explain that Ibn Kathir more often understands al-‘ashr as ad-dahr, which is a period or era encompassing the journey of human life. Al-‘ashr is related to khusr as a condition of loss and four characteristics that serve as a way out of it, namely faith, righteous deeds, truth, and patience. The research found three characteristics of time, namely theological, ethical, and eschatological dimensions.
