Teak (Tectona grandis L.) is a forestry species of high economic value, yet its generative propagation is often constrained by physical seed dormancy caused by a hard endocarp, resulting in relatively low germination capacity and rate. This study aimed to determine the effect of soaking solution type, soaking duration, and their interaction on the growth of teak seeds. The research was conducted at the Permanent Forestry Nursery of BPDAS Benain-Noelmina, Kupang City, for three months. A two-factor Completely Randomized Design (CRD) was used, comprising solution type (distilled water/M0, HCl/M1, and Atonik/M2) and soaking duration (3 days/N1, 6 days/N2, and 9 days/N3), each replicated three times. Parameters observed were germination capacity, germination rate index, and germination value. Data were analyzed using ANOVA followed by DMRT at the 5% level. The results showed that solution type and soaking duration had a highly significant effect on germination capacity and germination value, while germination rate index was significantly affected by solution type and highly significantly affected by soaking duration. The best combination was Atonik with a 6-day soaking duration (M2N2), producing the highest germination capacity of 80.00%. It is concluded that soaking teak seeds in Atonik solution for 6 days is the most effective treatment for improving teak seed germination.
