Human reliability is one of the factors that influences the quality of painting results. This activity has the potential for human error, which can lead to product defects, reduced quality, and increased operational costs. This study aims to determine the HEP in the painting process and to propose improvement recommendations to enhance the effectiveness of the painting process. One of the methods used to assess human reliability in this study is the HEART. Data were collected through observations, interviews, documentation, FGD, and questionnaires administered to thirty workers involved in the painting process. The analysis was conducted by calculating the Human Error Probability (HEP) and human reliability values, which were then classified into low, moderate, high, or very high categories. The results showed that the highest Human Error Probability (HEP) value was 0.265, found in the subtasks of mixing thinner and paint as well as spraying the mixed paint, with a reliability value of 73.4% (categorized as high reliability, below 80%). Recommended improvements include routine maintenance of spray gun equipment, technical training for operators, ensuring adequate rest time, and enhancing worker discipline toward Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
